A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a little birthday party. It was an informal get together. Just a few friends around a table having a tea party to tell her just how happy we all were that she was born. I had the present all wrapped, and her card all made, but I wanted to do a little something extra. I had no idea what we would be having at the tea party. If there would be a cake or cupcakes, but I wanted to make some thing festive to dress up the table. So I ended up making these little party decorations out of straws. I figured if they were on pretty straws they could go into drinks, or I could stick them into the cake, or just push them into the center piece on the table to give it a pop of birthday cheer. After I finished making them I realized just how versatile these little guys are. Besides being able to just stick them around the table you could always just pop them onto a present to give your packaging a little extra humph. Just cut down the straw a little bit and tape them on the gift. Or put them into the band on a party hat. Or what I ended up doing was was sticking them in the birthday girls hair as a hair stick. I'm probably going to make a few more of these in different colors to have on had. They are the perfect thing to grab and go when you have that dreaded last minute gift you forgot to wrap. Its construction is explained in the video below. The measurements of the circles I used are 2 1/4 inch diameter for the plane circle. The scallop circle is 2 1/2 inch diameter. Also, If you don't live near a target or they no longer carry these straws I have linked to similar ones on Amazon as well as grey and white polka dot washi tape to make the little flag with.
